The Street art. BATYR BEINESI collector coin is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the birth of Batyrkhan Shukenov, an outstanding composer and performer whose work holds a special place in Kazakhstan’s culture. The 500 tenge silver coin opens the new series “Discover Kazakhstan by Studying Coins,” which brings together commemorative motifs and contemporary artistic images.

The concept of Street art. BATYR BEINESI is based on the combination of two important themes: support for contemporary art and preserving the memory of Batyrkhan Shukenov. For the NBK, this issue became its first collaborative coin project, created in support of contemporary youth art.

The coin’s design features one of the most notable works of Kazakh street art — the graffiti piece “Batyr’s Wall,” created by the REPAS team. The artists, on their own initiative, granted the NBK the right to use this work in the coin’s design free of charge.
